Nursery

The best start for your little one...

Nursery is a pivotal experience for little ones; a place they begin to make friends and are exposed to a multitude of new play experiences. At St. Margaret's, little learners benefit from an early start to their educational journey in our specially designed nursery, providing a stimulating and nurturing environment at the heart of the school.

Our Early Years teaching is about creating a firm foundation for your child's development. From the age of 2, children benefit from a broad and exciting curriculum that includes weekly lessons in French, Music, PE and Forest School all taught by subject specialists, and this in addition to their expertly delivered Early Years curriculum.

Facilities & Location

The perfect setting for pre-schoolers

Our spacious nursery has two rooms, for our ‘Caterpillars’ (2-3 years old) and ‘Butterflies' (3-4 years old).

Small classes mean our expert Early Years staff can focus on your child and work at a pace that suits their ability, recognising their strengths in a warm, attentive and approachable way. We make learning fun through a combination of specialist teaching, playing, sharing and caring.

Our beautiful Nursery environment includes dedicated outside play areas in addition to the acres of grounds. We encourage the children to play outside throughout the seasons, learning from the nature around them.

Curriculum

Preparation for 'big' school

We firmly believe in striking a perfect balance between free-flow play and engaging adult-directed activities that sparks their passion for learning. From early literacy to numeracy, our dedicated approach seamlessly integrates essential skills into every enjoyable and interactive experience. Unleash their creative flair through ample art and crafts sessions, while nurturing their imagination and the value of sharing through free play.

Our nurturing environment ensures that as they transition to Reception, your child will develop a genuine love for learning, driven by a strong foundation. They will also enjoy specialist subjects such as Music, French, PE, and Forest School, providing a diverse and enriching educational journey.

Give your child the best start in life at our nursery.

French

The nursery pupils have 30mins of French lessons a week. Through fun, active games the children have the opportunity to say and recognise the vocabulary. They dance, sing and even do yoga in French, which is a great way to practice and learn body parts, animals and a lot of general vocabulary.

Music

Pupils in Nursery enjoy a Music lesson taught by our Director of Music every week. The youngest children learn to engage with music through song, movement and sensory activities. As their skills develop, they learn about the musical elements, responding to music through movement, playing percussion instruments and singing.

Sports

PE and Games is taught three times a week by the Sports teachers. They concentrate on developing ball skills building to small-sided team games; athletics-type activities and gymnastics, in conjunction with work on apparatus.

Forest School

Our pupils in Nursery have a wonderful opportunity to start to visit Forest School in our dedicated woodland area, often visiting throughout the seasons to explore their environment as part of their outdoor learning provision.

Begin an unforgettable adventure.

Children who join St Margaret’s develop their confidence and gain a genuine love for learning, putting them on the path to success.
